BEIRUT DTS
YWAM (Youth With A Mission) has its University of the Nations in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, and autonomus bases around the world. Their ‘entry level’ program is the DTS (Discipleship Training Program) which consists of three months of classroom preparation followed by three months of outreach. No one in YWAM is paid, everyone raises their own support funds. I have been teaching in DTS throughout Indonesia since 1993, this Beirut experience is the first outside of Indonesia, though I have attended retreats for businessmen in their Kona site. On staff are 6 from 5 nations, including Egypt, Syria, The Netherlands, Indonesia, and Brazil. My class is one Lebanese and three Egyptians. The two Egyptian girls don’t speak English, but the two guys do. |
